I think Mikkeksen retired on the Monte due to an alternator belt failure, so not the same as Suninen’s crash damage to cage. You were correct on Bouffier in Corsica - it was an engine failure so down to the car.
Mikkelsen had a small off before the alternator failure, it was speculated whether something got into the alternator
Are you sure you're not mixing up Suninen's retirement in Wales due to roll cage damage? In Australia he retired because of alternator failure on the last day.
