Those "jump" updates will happen with spotty wifi, as the system tries to distribute status updates to all of the units.
It's like getting a slew of Facebook notifications when you get a cell signal back.

Nope. The individual check-in number is isolated to each poll pad. It has NOTHING to do with syncing. Syncing should not EVER affect the check-in numbers for an individual poll pad. It is NOT expected nor proper in any way, shape or form.
