On testing...Dr. Shah said there were 6,088 negative tests as of this morning. They continue to work with a commercial lab to process results quickly that lab also has a backlog. So Maine CDC is looking to expand its testing capacity, including new "platform" discussed last week.

On the rising number of confirmed cases, Shah said: "This increase that we’ve seen is concerning to us. It is also consistent with what other states have seen...and largely consistent with what we have seen in other parts of the northeast and New England."

Last update on testing: Last week, the backlog was 1,300 tests. Shah said they've reduced that by about 500. So it is possible some of the increase seen over the weekend in new cases is because Maine CDC has received new shipments of chemicals needed to increase testing capacity.
