I am hopeful that as we come to recognize addressing climate change will take all of us, that this report will be a small step on the road to embracing climate diplomacy and building a better, climate-resilient, multilateral system which works for everyone. 11/11

My resilience is yours, and yours is mine. We are both better off working together, investing for our mutual benefit, than going it alone. /9

Better is to find ways to work together. Recognizing that transboundary climate risks connect us all, we can use this knowledge to come together and identify win-win solutions to improve systemic resilience and protect global food security. /8

Instead, countries might decide to invest in their national agricultural systems, working toward self-sufficiency. This approach risks leaving behind already vulnerable producers who, exposed to climate change, may now lose their livelihoods. /7

Third, as we become aware of these relationships, it is up to policymakers to help us manage them. In a world of concurrent, increasing extreme weather events, we'll find it challenging to diversify our way toward climate-resilient trade portfolios. /6

Your morning cup of coffee might be grown in Brazil, bought by a trader and shipped to Rotterdam, roasted in Italy, and drank in the UK. That cup is exposed to long-term production shifts in Brazil, sea-level rise in the Netherlands, and infrastructure damage in London /4

Second, this issue has been overlooked by the climate policy community. Often, we have focused our attention on risk at the national level or below, without considering how our economic ties connect us together. /3
