One detail I didn't see in your piece that I thought was interesting when I heard it: While Lagoa has a Columbia law degree, she was not a Supreme Court clerk. ACB clerked for Scalia. Not a small factor in understanding someone's legal thinking.
If Trump was sure about Barrett he wouldn’t wait to nominate her. I think he’s not sold, & I wasn’t either after reviewing she sided w lockdown advocates. Especially after judges in certain states ruled it was unconstitutional, the correct ruling in unprecedented times.
It’s a complete shot in the foot at this point in time.
