If the Queen of Introverts (me, that’s me) can make Get Out The Vote calls, you can make one too in the last few hours! This election will be decided by <1k votes - maybe you can swing it!

Today’s tip: a big professional regret was moving on too quickly from management that trusted, respected and empowered me. I didn’t realize how rare that is. So move on v thoughtfully from these jobs! Cool opps will come more often than a great dynamic with a team.

Using proper punctuation in work emails is a hill on which I’m willing to die. For now, Slack may still be a compositional free-for-all. Go ahead and get off my lawn.

But if it's so good to be a hustler, is it then SO surprising when a company walks a fine line of doing the right thing by customers and employees? There's a difference between "hustling" and "working hard" or "having grit." Words matter.

Of course Bad Blood is an extreme tale of lying liars. And of course most entrepreneurial "rule-breaking" is actually "norm breaking" and not anything illicit.

Inspired by Bad Blood (AMAZING, DO READ IT), maybe we should stop approving of founders as "hustlers". Remember that the word "hustle" usually suggests something underhanded. At BEST it's aggressive and forceful. Worst - hustle generally is at the expense of other people.

    1) Call your reps at (202) 224-3121- tell them to END the separation of families at the border (ask your Senators to pass the Keep Families Together Act and your House Rep to pass the HELP Separated Children Act).

Of course there are many other reasons someone can be a bad manager (I’ve done a lot of them) but Directing, Not Managing, can be the most destructive IMHO.

But I think a lot of managers view their team as a necessary evil to getting the work they want. As a subpar solution for doing everything themselves, rather than a group of humans who might have creative new solutions if they just had their boss’s support.
