The COVID 19 crisis left many @KenyonCollege employees uncertain about their income. When the administration committed to paying workers in full, there was no reference to student workers, who took it upon themselves to petition demanding pay in spring 2020
Past attempts to address workplace concerns of students have not succeeded in bringing transformative change. EG, student council established an ad hoc student employment committee in 2017 that dissolved after one year
Students have witnessed a consistent stripping of power over the past decade. A student led union would not only support workers but provide a critical way to organize and agitate across campus
