I flew to Hong Kong to release ’s new World Report. This year it describes how the Chinese government is undermining the international human rights system. But the authorities just blocked my entrance to Hong Kong, illustrating the worsening problem. trib.al/dBDSWZa

In planning to release 's new World Report in Hong Kong, I wanted to spotlight Beijing’s deepening assault on international efforts to uphold human rights. The decision to bar me from HK vividly illustrates the problem. People in HK have it much worse.

I suppose I should be grateful to Hong Kong immigration authorities for this shoot-yourself-in-the-foot publicity for 's World Report release. I'm not grateful for the back-to-back ~16-hour flights in steerage class on Cathay between Hong Kong and New York.
