3) I Own My Content If I Make It For Myself: I used to jump at these opportunities, but after analyzing the tradeoff I found they weren't worth it. 🗨️In your life, what "opportunities" seem good at face value, but aren't in the long run?

2) The Quality Of Content I Can Produce Is Far Better: While I think I’m a pretty good public speaker, making a video allows me to give the exact story and info I want error-free due to editing. When speaking on stage, I may forget points or get the wording wrong.

1) I Reach More People With Less Effort Through Other Mediums: A YouTube video I make likely will reach an audience 10x larger than any event I speak at. That same video also takes me about 1/10 the time to prepare.

What are your favorite free data sources other people may not know of? (Outside of Kaggle, data .gov, Google dataset search, etc.)

When you're working in a fast changing, innovative domain, you may be better off bringing on fresh talent that is teachable over experienced veterans set in their ways. If you're inexperienced, lean into being teachable. If you're a seasoned veteran... do the same.

MrBeast found the most success with people who were coachable or had real YouTube experience. Learning the specifics of the unique domain, without scar tissue from previous "similar" work, has allowed his team to scale at an unprecedented rate.

Relevant experience can come with bias. The people he hired from traditional media with "relevant experience" all had preconceived notions about being successful on YouTube. This bias prevented innovation and change and made them overlook the nuance within their new work.

Your inexperience can be an asset. This is made crystal clear in 's podcast discussion with . MrBeast’s by far the most successful YouTuber of all time. As he has grown his team, he’s found that being coachable was more valuable than "relevant experience".

AI is a crazy innovation with massive ethical implications. It has the power to change the way the world works. Would you want to be a first mover in opening pandora’s box? The second mover averts the majority of blame and can also learn from all the mistakes of the first mover.

Who says Google doesn't have language models that are comparable? They almost definitely do, they just haven’t released them. Why would Google keep these private? (Especially when it’s so popular right now)

Without a doubt, ChatGPT is an incredible innovation. What's special about it isn't its function, it is that it has been made widely available to the public.

"ChatGPT is the Google Killer" I'm tired of seeing this plastered all over my social media. Here’s why I think ChatGPT will actually make Google, not Microsoft, more money in the long run:

Have I finally lost it? Hopefully not. What I'm talking about here is self plagiarism. Reusing your old work as a template for new things you produce. There are virtually no projects that I start from completely ground zero.

Try to be your friend’s biggest fan and advocate (if within your means). If your friends won't support what you're doing, who will? As for those extra books I’ve been buying... I give them away at conferences I attend! If you see me, ask for one. You just might get one!

Free stuff’s nice, but seeing your friends succeed is much more rewarding. Usually when someone’s producing a product, it’s a big risk for them. People doubt it’ll be any good. Everyone’s asking for free stuff at the start when that is the riskiest time in their new venture.

6⃣ (BONUS!) I NEVER REFER TO MYSELF AS AN "EXPERT" OR A "GURU" I feel as though these terms imply that I know a heck of a lot more than I do. I feel that I am more of a "student" than anything else.

5⃣ I TRY TO ADMIT WHEN I AM WRONG This is probably the hardest one and it happens more than I would like to admit. The world and the field of data science change constantly; it would be unwise for my opinion not to change as well.

4⃣ WELCOME PUBLIC FEEDBACK My rule: I wait to a 5 count til responding to critics. In this time, I think if the criticism is valid and about the possible motive of the criticism. This takes my emotions out of it to the utmost. In so doing, I can value even the harshest criticism.

3⃣ FIND FRIENDS I TRUST TO GIVE MY HONEST FEEDBACK I tend to be drawn to people who tell me how it is. I review most of my long form work with my friends.

2⃣ TALK TO EXPERTS Every week, I do a podcast with others qualified in the overarching data field. I’m always trying to evolve my mind by bouncing ideas off them and I call my friends from whom I try to get insights into how they see happiness, success, and the future.

1⃣ SPEAK FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE Recounting what I have done and what has worked for me is my truth and reality. I recognize that the same things I do may or may not work for other people.

6⃣ (Bonus!) You should develop a GROWTH mindset around your work. Just because it’s difficult now, doesn’t mean you aren’t good at it. It means you aren’t good at it yet. Everyone struggles with their first project. That means you have room to grow!📈

4⃣ You are going to get stuck😕. It is ok to take time away and come back to a problem. Working through sticky situations is what data science is all about.😤
