    Important but depressing thread. The compilation of these episodes of just the last few months demonstrates the scope of the problem. Is any political reporter or editor grappling with this problem?

    Not to pick on this one piece, but it’s a good example of how Republican bad faith has become the background assumption in so much journalism, rather than a set of behaviors that can and should be questioned.

    Really odd to me that Fox and Republican elected officials are spending so much time focusing on a story that centers on the nation’s highest ranking military officer concluding that Trump was mentally unstable.

    The time for Milley to do something about this was during the impeachment proceedings that could have prevented Trump from ever getting control of the nukes again.

    Two days after Jan. 6, Trump's top military adviser took top-secret action to limit Trump from ordering a dangerous military strike or launching nuclear weapons, according to 'Peril.' Milley 'was certain that Trump had gone into a serious mental decline.'

    It’s just a massive and systemic failure of progressive policy and communications organizations that mountains of evidence shows progressive economic policy works tremendously well while centrist and right wing economic policy doesn’t yet the conventional wisdom is the opposite.

    Absolutely incredible: Census says poverty rate **fell** in 2020 ***during one of the worst labor market shocks in US history***, due to the combo of stimulus checks/federal relief that reached millions both in and outside the workforce. Reflects limits of jobs to reduce poverty.

    It’s not going to take until 2024. This is happening right before our eyes and the media is treating as a horse race political contest. And bizarrely claiming that Republicans are winning despite polling showing majorities favor vaccine mandates and intensity advantage.

    The GOP will be entirely antivax by 2024, for every vaccine, not just Covid.

    Ok but… On APRIL 14, “following a virtual meeting of Allied foreign & defense ministers… Stoltenberg said ‘our drawdown will be orderly, coordinated & deliberate… we went into Afghanistan together, we have adjusted our posture together, & we are united in leaving together.”

    NATO has 30 members. Were all consulted in advance, or just the Brits / Germans / French? One Eastern European diplomat told me they learned of Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal announcement through the Washington Post

    It’s just mind boggling to me that the GOP is splintering between MAGA & an admittedly small number of actual conservatives, yet drive to form a 3rd party always comes from so-called moderate Dems, which will only guarantee MAGA prevails. Insanity.
