He's not a whistleblower. He was involved in propaganda and Russian intelligence operations. If that happened to involve also spilling US secrets, all the better for them. It doesn't make him a whistleblower or a journalist. Walking like a duck doesn't make you a duck!

I don’t think the question was ever if he was a journalist. It’s finding something to prosecute him for that couldn’t also be then applied to journalists, who after all publish both classified US info and info obtained from foreign intel services.
