Holy cow this tweet is a miss. Your tape recorder exists to report what the President says. YOU exist to give it context, like, "The President is yet again saying something completely untrue." Otherwise, we could just print transcripts.

It’s a shame there is so much misunderstanding. When I said my role is to —cover— what a president says/does. Implicit in that is I/we provide context, historical references and relevant opposing views. I’m sorry it has to be explained.
-
The fact that so many people believe this means to be explained to you says a lot about how the media has failed in the Trump/McConnell/Ryan era. It's like
@jayrosen_nyu's work never happened.

This is not true and you know it. Your demeanor is part of your reporting. I said the same thing to you and you also said I am wrong. But, I am not wrong either. It's your job to point out his lies and provide context. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

@Uberficker Concerning this argument, KellyO, I submit to you a judgment call that you make without issue in another tweet, on a different subject. This is what we would expect on DJT coverage. Call out the lies & crazy behavior.pic.twitter.com/TeCVKnzYS0

you cannot ethically report on trump without also fact checking what he says. he lies constantly & it’s not fair to just repeat his words without providing the truth. media needs to step up. their job is to inform. when you’re spreading his misinformation you’re misinforming.

We hear you, Kelly. But you guys DO normalize the "monster" too often and too much. Sorry to say...

So you're a mere stenographer just reporting what the POTUS says and does without giving it relevant and necessary context. Anyone can do that. Where is the added value in you doing it?

Good answer... it seems reporting the news without bias is a lost art... keep up the great work reporting facts, as you always have

I totally agree. When KellyO or Christin Welker come on the air I mute them. They're constantly trying to normalize trump. It's sickening. They just repeat the LYING garbage he spews. We can read his unhinged ignorant tweets for that. They're useless

Kelly, you do more than tell us what the president says or does: you often tell us what he "thinks," or "believes," or "wants." My journalism classes taught me that we should only report what someone says they think, or claim they believe, etc. You often violate this principle.

But how do you report it with a straight face? Seriously. Don't you ever want to just roll your eyes, or laugh, or say WTF are you blabbing about?

@Uberficker In this era of bias reporting by all networks, Kelly stands alone. She is a true professional who understands a reporter's job is being neutral, letting talking heads babble about the meanings behind actions
