It hasn't been much of a holiday, this weekend, thanks to work commitments & horrible weather. However, managed to get to the cinema to see Lynne Ramsay's 'You Were Never Really Here'. A grim story, deeply unsettling but brilliantly told.

Things you don't want to see at the start of the working day: an agenda for the meeting which includes 9.40-10.40 Team Building Exercises 😣

I'm dealing with the end of my holiday by counting up the days until the next main one - 61 days. And by buying gig tickets to see Thom Yorke, LCD Soundsystem, John Grant, St Vincent, Heaven 17 & xPropaganda. It helps :)

Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? Not tonight. The xPropaganda gig will go down as one of my all time favourites. Beautifully realised & Claudia & Susanne were in great voice. Crowd were ecstatic. & I on cloud 9.

It's not a boat but an agreeable place to meet up with and prior to the Propaganda gig tonight.

I subsequently found this YT footage of one of the songs at the Paradiso gig in which I'm the focus at times. Quite unnerving & baffling, especially as Solveig is looking fabulous

March 22nd. A special date. It's a happy birthday to & also the date the Katzenjammer Nation was constituted. Also the date of 2 fantastic Katzenjammer gigs. The Scala in London in 2012 and the Paradiso in Amsterdam in 2015. A pity we didn't have one today.

The Abba exhibition is a real joy. Fascinating exhibits, imaginatively presented & with an affectionate narration by Jarvis Cocker. A great trip down memory lane for me & others too.

Absolutely right. An intoxicating mix of darkness, playfulness, anger, melancholia & downright bonkers-ness (if there is such a word!). Like a twisted cabaret & irresistibly danceable at times. Hope to see in Scotland before long.

Arrived in sunny London for tonight's Fever Ray gig. Looking forward to meeting up with and later :)

Great start to my week's holiday, hearing a Katzenjammer song played on Radio 2. Tonight, it's a gig in Edinburgh - Out Lines. So good when I saw them in Glasgow last autumn.

When I realised that this festival was in Glasgow, my improving mood jumped exponentially :) Sunday 1st July. I'll be there.

This, plus the fact that John Grant and St Vincent are also part of the contemporary music strand at this year's Edinburgh International Festival, has cheered me up no end :)

Oh dear :( A handful of good acts doesn't make up for the fact that, once again, this is a disappointing first announcement. "The line-up is not the be-all of the Festival" says Melvin Benn. He seems committed to ensuring that's the case.

Could have done without getting late home from work as I've a gig in Edinburgh to go to this evening. TuneYards. Her first visit to the city, perhaps. Fantastic when I saw her & her band at Electric Picnic a few years ago.

The sun is shining and I've got my first gig of the year tonight, so all's well :) Going to see the wonderful Susanne Sundfør again, this time in Edinburgh. A joy to hear songs like this:

Home after my usual Saturday evening at the cinema. This time to see 'Lady Bird'. An admirably understated family drama/coming of age film. Not without its faults but full of small, resonant moments & well served by fine performances.

Absolutely. It featured some enlightening and well written music journalism back in the 20th Century. It's decline was sad to see, so it's just as well it'll no longer be printed.

Did my good deed for the day by clearing snow from the parking area & helping a neighbour get his car out of a snowdrift. Wouldn't be surprised if someone's in my usual parking place when I return from work on Monday, though.
