Visiting the Duwamish Long House and Cultural Center anytime between Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm is a great way to learn more about the Duwamish Tribe and how you can provide support. We look forwarding to meeting you!

I love this question! I see a lack of collectivity in all aspects of US education. Even when we do group work we are looking to see who is the leader. I think collective reflection on a shared product, creating something together can be a start.

Basing class participation on speaking publicly, verbally performing “individual ideas,” is a not so subtle form of US colonialism and imperialism in higher ed classrooms. How do you assess student learning/engagement in other ways that counter a culture of individualism?

"The challenges of epistemic justice and epistemic rights in this new era are summarized in three essential questions about knowledge, authority and power: Who knows? Who decides who knows? Who decides who decides who knows?"

Here’s a fun fact: Black H.S. students from Oakland are responsible for becoming a state holiday in California! They embarked on campaign in their freshman year in 1978. Cali’s first MLK Day was celebrated in 1982—before it became nat’l holiday in 1986! ✊🏾

Thankful for space to think with and . "We see an urgent need to support our young people, and to refuse narratives that normalize empire, dehumanize whole populations and thus pave the way for endless wars." A piece for educators.

My son insists that the "E" in STEM stands for Entertainment. Feeling relief, but I'm also not an engineer.

It seems to me when we look at Iran coverage (and other similar coverage) so much of it is a result of journalists having expertise in politics, but not diplomacy, imperialism, the history of the region. The line of questioning and framing reflects this in really harmful ways.

This is a war crime. Threatening to target and kill innocent families, women and children - which is what you’re doing by targeting cultural sites - does not make you a “tough guy.” It does not make you “strategic.” It makes you a monster.

This is a MUST READ. Scathing and rigorous critique of the corporate-military-academic discourse on “AI ethics” relevant to all of us aiming for a justice centered approach to computer science education

If you have 1-2 hours today to submit a workshop proposal, they are not hard! Requests have been made for research-agenda setting workshops in computer science, mixed methods workshops, YPAR in the learning sciences. This is a great chance to learn with colleagues!
