#JuneteenthDay is a celebration of freedom, a reminder of the sins of this nation, and a chance to reaffirm our commitment to progress. It is well past time that Florida ends the legal observance of confederate holidays and makes Juneteenth an official state holiday.
However, this is the least we can do. We must commit to ending racial injustice and ensuring equal opportunity. We can start by ending inequities in health care, ensuring zip codes don't determine educational opportunity, and protecting black lives by ending police brutality.
