The hold ups and delays I experience due to the inaccessible/unequal transport system have a knock-on effect, and very quickly accumulate. I now have to wait over half an hour for the next train. It’s not much, but it adds up.

Was at trains station today with a friend who I don’t think I’ve travelled by train with. Got there few mins before train we could’ve gone on. He could’ve made it. No way would I. He’s not disabled. I am

@KatiePennick - the daily inequality experienced by people with disability is unacceptable You should be first on and off the train! They had 5 mins! How much notice does it take to set up the ramp! Inequality of any kind makes my blood boil

Most train companies insist that assistance is booked in advance. Like, a week in advance. Turning up at a station (even in plenty of time) without having done so is enough to prevent you boarding in many cases. No spontaneous/emergency day trips accounted for.

This isn't acceptable. You might have recourse to legal action against them to stop this in the future.
@citizenbradshaw of@LeighDayEmploy is running cases with EHRC funding for exactly these types of circumstances. Drop him a line. -
It isn’t acceptable. But rather than ambulance chasing for a fare refund, perhaps a more constructive approach would be to lobby transport companies/regulators that they make provision across networks for an App where you could pre-book or reserve boarding/pick up arrangements
