I’m watching the #NYStateOfTheState as part of the watch party. Will commit to funding #FairPay4HomeCare and making New York a better place for disabled people and seniors?

. must use her #NYStateOfTheState to highlight the need to #InvestInCare. #FairPay4HomeCare, #RestoreHomeCare, & reform of managed care in Medicaid must be at the top of the agenda for Albany this year.

. - the #NYStateOfTheState can’t be strong w/o access to home care. End the “Goldilocks” cuts to home care eligibility. #RestoreHomeCare so those deemed ‘not disabled enough’ & those ‘too disabled’ still can live in the community.

If you rely on a homecare worker to eat and drink, this is especially insulting. A magic angel unicorn won’t swoop in on a rainbow of smiles and glitter to make sure the *poor older and disabled ppl* get what they need. #FairPay4HomeCare makes life possible.

Our movement has been fighting day in and out for #FairPay4HomeCare because we need investments in care, not billionaires, ! We need NOTHING LESS than an increase of 150% of the minimum wage for home care workers in the final budget.

This proposal relies on greater enforcement of parking. If we are talking about THAT, I’d like to see more enforcement when it comes to parking on the sidewalk, Idling in accessible parking spots, blocking curb cuts.

If there’s anything we’ve learned from the pandemic, it’s that nursing homes are the least safe place to be. That’s why we need you to call Gov. Hochul and tell her to support home care, so people with disabilities can live in their own homes in the community.
