Dear Please immediately restore and augment funding for the Indigenous Culture Fund in Ontario. Ontario, derived from a First Nations word, should honour and fully support First Nations, Metis and Inuit cultures - not cut them.

It appears and the Ontario Government have cut the Indigenous Culture Fund from the Ontario Arts Council. Staff have been laid off. The fund was a response to the TRC. This is shameful. , but not Indigenous people.

What did the basic income pilot mean for Ontarians? For Steve, who was homeless, it meant he was able to go back to college to learn a trade, and launch his career. Now — he can no longer go back to school, and says, he may be back on the streets again.

Once again, a thing is deemed more valuable than an Indigenous life. Is there an inanimate object that we are deemed more valuable than? Not a car, or ATV obviously. A bike? A toaster? Why do I suspect the answer is nothing?

No amount of money can buy back a people's river. No amount of money can buy back the sea. The Trans Mountain Pipeline cannot be built. Because we love the rivers. Because we love the sea. Because we love this sacred earth. We will defend our home. We will defend our water.

The Feds found enough money to buy a pipeline, the same money they can’t find to fix First Nations’ water crisis. Are we sure we can’t drink oil? Are we sure? The government can’t build water lines into First Nations but they sure as fuck can build pipelines into First Nations.

Canada could have ended under-funding of First Nations education, water, early childhood programs, domestic violence shelters and ensured no sick child was air transported alone in Quebec and more. Instead... they bought a pipeline
