“It’s okay because it started a conversation.”
I hate this line so much and outlets constantly use it when caught telling bullshit.
Wait...The player that got harassed isn't even confirmed to be a woman? I'm out of the loop here, all I've heard were "Gamerbros" being "gamerbros", doing "gamerbro" things
Wasn't real. May or may not have been any harassment outside of a couple of people really sure she was a fraud.
I'm crying over the new information that was just released.pic.twitter.com/6eQBPC9aHK
This whole "social experiment" crap is the same narrative that Bully Hunters tried to pull off after it exploded into a dumpster fire.
I think the really sad part about this is just how many people believed this, and pushed the "Men don't want women in gaming" narrative. A lot of people and artist friends I know were pushing it real hard. I'm sure a lot of them are going to back peddle it too.
You're implying they'll even acknowledge it after the fact
Sadly this, hence why it's already being toted as a 'social experiment' by the crowd who were oh-so happy to jump on the "gamers are toxic men who hate women, it's Gamergate all over again!" mentality.
Last year gave us Bully Hunter, this year gives us faux female gamers as fronts to move up in competition.
"It's Just a Prank Bro" Version 2.0
Its not a prediction if it has already happened.
This is why when ever I see "Games journalists" pushing harassment stuff, it's branded "Fake and ghey" by default.
"Although new information has come to light we cannot ignore the toxic male gamers and their hostility towards female gamers (who makes up over half the demographic) who enters into the competitive community." I'm expecting something like that, like they did with Atari.
And they did do this. They really shouldn't be so predictable. Yes it's shitty that there's harassment but to ignore that this was born from ppl finding her suspect and they were right is a hard pill they have to swallow.
I am confused, but should not be surprised anymore by the Overwatch community
There's already people running with similar, saying it just proves how much harassment women receive and they're also making mention of the fact that he only had to deal with harassment for 12-days, whereas they always have to deal with misogyny.
