A Palestinian teenager demonstrating against President Donald Trump's Mideast peace plan was shot dead by Israeli troops in the West Bank. It's the first violent death since the plan was unveiled last week.

Nine paychecks of JC staff and contributors are currently being held by PayPal. The reason: we used the word "Iran" in reference to 's piece published last week.

Excellent op-ed by and 's Phyllis Bennis on the need for candidates to give us hard budget numbers. It's not enough to broadly commit to reducing military spending, we need specifics and we need them now.

Today would be Trayvon Martin’s 25th birthday. He should still be alive. We must keep fighting for an end to anti-Black violence — a world where Black children are free to live and thrive. Happy birthday, Trayvon.

hello, good people! guess what day it is? that’s right: 1 year from today , the last agreement btw US and Russia limiting their nukes, expires—& the White House has thus far refused to agree to extend it, while Moscow is ready to do so immediately and w/o preconditions

The US is in denial over how many people are living in poverty. Our poverty line assumes: $0 healthcare costs $0 childcare costs $0 rent increases No geographic diff Even w that lie, 40 million people live in *recognized* poverty. & we have no idea how many are actually poor.

Here's a thread of Republican senators who have admitted that Trump is guilty as charged but plan to acquit him anyway. This proves it's a , which makes any acquittal a cover-up, not an exoneration.

1 year from today, the last remaining nuclear treaty b/w Russia and the US expires. From that point on the world's most nuclear-armed nations will be totally unrestrained and blind to each other's capabilities. In a word: Chaos. We can't let that happen.

Trump’s strike against Soleimani wasn’t “flawless,” it was unconstitutional, reckless, and led to an Iranian counter attack that left 50 US soldiers with traumatic brain injuries. He risked a new endless war with Iran in the same speech as he championed ending them.

That was just false: Trump is not working to end endless wars.
He vetoed my WPR to end the war in Yemen, stripped my amendment to prevent a war in Iran, and is to blame for another failed surge in Afghanistan. Enough.

So, uh, how are those guardrails doing? The press will now proceed to sand down the rough parts of Trump’s speech to fit him into a normal framework. It’s normalization masquerading as savvy, and one big way a well-meaning media enables creeping aithoritatiansism.

I walked out of that speech. The lies, the bigotry, and the shameless bragging about taking away food stamps that people depend on to live—it was all beneath the dignity of the office he occupies. Shame on this forever impeached president.

Pete can't win the nomination because he has zero percent support from black voters. He can't beat Trump because he has zero percent support from black voters. White people had their fun in Iowa, but the sooner they take off their blinders, the better for everyone involved.
