Women are dive-bombing into wellness as an attempt to re-enter our actual selves following a mind-body split so mass and profound that even Descartes didn't see it coming and misunderstanding these attempts as trendy capitalism is sexist and also anti-intellectual, good morning

Is a "50%+" parent. Does not for a moment consider my work/creative work less valuable than his (which is finance!). Would be really offended at the suggestion he was not capable of solo childcare. Thinks I'm smarter than him (not about money).

Plz send heartwarming stories of straight male partners supporting your creative endeavors. Hungry for a story that isn't "I achieved unprecedented professional success and my relationship was never the same."

I've listened to every song and seen every movie and etc etc etc so why is "There's nothing wrong with what I want" the only line that matters btw

Okay so this morning, this person on the subway was dancing in place and they closed their eyes and when they opened them they were blinking back tears and I asked what song made them dance and cry and the answer was “What I Want” by MUNA

I'll say it again: the reason Everything Everywhere All At Once is so good is precisely because it is deeply weird and chaotic. It made the space for Asian creatives to be wild, to take artistic risks, and to be released from the burden of sad trauma stories. What a gift.

As a suburban, Canadian (so, extra-boring personal context) teen I had email and a non-smart cell phone, no obligations to them, no social media. I had a car, a boyfriend, few rules, much trust and was *free* to a now-unbelievable degree. We weren't sophisticated but we were GLAM

I’m reading the Shards and my standard suburban teen life in 2007 seems way closer to Bret’s life as a rich high school senior in Hollywood in 1981 than that of an ordinary teen in 2017. Sort of an interesting knot in refinement culture

The tweet going around about "before email, when you went home, was work just...over?" and I want to make an impassioned defense of not having work email on your phone. I've had an "email job" since I was 24 and I have never had email on my phone. A BETTER WORLD IS POSSIBLE

The secret/actual worst thing about parenting: so many losers

I swear, 30% of the posts in mom groups are about kids (colic, tantrums, sleepless nights) and the other 70% are about useless husbands. It’s wild (and depressing) how ubiquitous it is. I can’t fathom having a partner who won’t change diapers. twitter.com/SarJD123/statu…

Husband used daughter's long, insane, formal (as in "show horse"-style) nickname as the profile name in a baby app and tech support is having to refer to it, in full, again and again and again....

when you start talking shit to a friend you are accustomed to talking shit with (i mean pure, uncut, USDA, no qualifiers, SHIT talking) and they let you finish and start their response with “i don’t know…” — i would rather be KILLED than live through that.

I really liked how Marie Kondo acknowledged and made space for the magical/irrational aspects of possession. I love "Does this spark joy?" as opposed to "Do I really need this?" or "Have I worn this in the last six months?"
