Just to be crystal clear - I identified myself as a reporter for Spectrum News 1 and showed my LA County press pass. - I told the officers who corralled us - texted LAPD’s PIO my location - my newsroom called their supervisor They still handcuffed me.
This reminds me of the 2004 GOP convention in Manhattan. We'd be covering protest marches and suddenly the NYPD, without warning, would unroll plastic fencing on either end of a block and announce that everyone trapped inside was under arrest, including credentialed reporters!
Yet the Capitol insurrectionists were told to "go home, we love you" by the guy who incited them. Pratically walked away from the carnage they caused on a red carpet.
