I started with my then 6yr old when the first book came out & we had to wait together for each new one. He grew up almost as Harry, Hermione and Ron did. It gutted me when we finished the last book esp since he read it on his own.

Wow! The wait between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix must have felt interminable.

I'd have to read Cursed Child myself to vet it. The Fantastic Beasts movies are so terrible!

Do they hold up?
-
Very well! And it's especially fun for me, because as they came out, I tore through them so fast that I genuinely don't remember a lot of 6 and 7.

Read them again - you will all love them again and likely more so.

I was thinking we'd do Lord of the Rings, which I never read?

If you get a chance listen to the audiobooks. The reader Jim Dale does an amazing job doing different a different voice for each character. I am a 50 year old who still listens to the books while walking my dogs.

We read a books, then watch the movie, and listen to the audiobook. Because of the lengths, we're only on Order of the Phoenix with the audiobooks!
