It's hard to imagine any path toward decarbonization that doesn't at some point route through a job guarantee, if only as a way to popularize deficit spending and reassert a positive role for the government to do things private markets won't

...playwrites, mural painters, oral historians, choir directors. IMO the fact that people can be remunerated for other genuinely more fun, low-carbon and important things when not dependent on some soul-crushing industry for work is an underrated JG benefit

Genuine question, is a job guarantee better than massive investments in clean energy/decarbonization, and free college, and free childcare? If a massive investment is to be made on par with Medicare/Soc. Security, why is a JG the best option? Thank you.

Great idea. We could call it WPA for Work Projects Admin. h/t FDR The last time we tried this, it helped pull the country out of the Great Depression. Bonus fact: The tax breaks, deficit spending in time expansion and frothy markets set stage for a reprise of Great Depression.
