tl;dr my fear in what what's hopefully a Biden WH & Democratic Senate going for a much narrower climate package is that it'll avoid the tougher supply side and safety net questions, and get saddled for the blame as fossil fuels decline one way or another - & probably way too late
Decarbonization is a huge project that will require sustained Democratic majorities. The way Dems got those for the New Deal was in no small part by actively making lots of people's lives better, in ways they could see, feel & broadcast. Climate policies have to do the same thing
Last thing on this: promising you're going to somehow recreate a midcentury manufacturing economy in the US and just magically make it green is not the answer!

Either that or funding and building a parallel green infrastructure investment structure that can't be subject to partisan whims.
Carbon fixing housing. Cleaner air for health care. Using the reterraforming effort as the basic funding mechanism for universal employment.
