Steyer was pressed on this in his NYT interview and kept pointing to a group he worked/funded last cycle (the name eludes me), which he says will continue to do that work. He's disassociated from it now though (because he is running), and didn't suggest he'd spend his own $ on it

The group is NextGen America and he funded through 2020! Before he announced his candidacy, he made his last $ contribution and stepped away

I’ve seen a lot of state parties hosting events for him and with him. We haven’t had reps from any other candidate come through the
@DCDemocrats but I haven’t seen much action at the state candidate level which is where we need the $$ especially in#NC and#Pa
