Right! A lot of people are in financially abusive situations where just leaving isn’t an option that can quickly happen!

Victims DO want to leave. You known many victims feel the safest place to go is the place they already know? That’s why so many victims don’t leave. It’s not many other safe spaces to go to. An escape plan is so important.

It would be interesting to see #'s on how many abusers are not the breadwinner leaseholder and are actually homeless without the partners they're holding hostage. Way too many in both cases.

THIS. THIS. THIS. Said the same after Katrina when "why didn't they just leave" was everywhere. Not everyone--dare I say most people--can't afford to just pick up an start a new life someplace else. Everyone doesn't have the means or the support system.
-
Or they have both but their abuser interfered on both fronts.

having an abusive family is just like having an abusive bf or husband. they isolate you from everyone and abuse you for spending time with other people. you must revolve your life around them.
