A thoughtful contribution, thank you. Ideological opposites allying for the greater good is also what I tried to help build in Russia against Putin. We'd be on opposite sides in a parliament, but at least we'd have one.https://twitter.com/benjaminwittes/status/1036241825500200961 …

Working with demagogues and autocrats is like working with cancer. You fight it. You cut it out. These aren't political differences, it's deciding if we're going to have politics at all.

With
@renew_democracy, this coalition concept is global, asking all who value the principles of liberal democracy to fight to defend them against extremists & autocrats on all sides. Then we can get back to arguing amongst ourselves!Show this thread -
And yes, I am intolerant of intolerance, as Popper put it. You do not collaborate with those who would destroy you. You do not debate with those who wish to end all debate.

This is a very good point, Mr. Kasparov. We can have empathy for the murderer because, “he knows not what he does”, but we must still protect Society and keep him locked up. That’s wisdom.

I doubt that and understand it considering your background. I suggest you read an American author Ralph Waldo Emerson. America is founded on optimism

Yeah, I’m sure Garry Kasparov has never read Emerson. Sit down.
