Am finishing a paper on #StayMadAbby and the myths I have learned that people actually believe about affirmative action are beyond wrong.

Myth #1: PoC benefit the most from AA. Fact: Per stats, white women benefit most from AA. Angry Abby almost shot herself in the foot.
-
Oh, I know, right? Another yth: AA candidates do worse than "regular" applicants at high selectivity schools.
-
That myth is premised on the lie that all AA candidates are underachievers.
-
Another myth: the original point of AA is to increase diversity of student body! No! To redress historic exclusions!
-
Yes b/c white Americans hoped to increase diversity in 1961 but figured it still made sense to fight integration and the CRM then too.

This is how you know whites privilege exists: no other race is allowed to be that ignorant and live to tell about it.

Like every other college isn't a Historically White College?

Whites who feel discriminated against by HBCUs are the same people who unironically ask "since there's BET, where's White Entertainment TV?"

I'm embarrassed to admit that I know quite a few who believe that. It still shocks me when i hear it.
