I grew up in Henderson, TX, which is hauntingly conservative. I had a liberal teacher, and I asked her why she continued to live there. She replied, "If I left, who would teach you to question authority and think for yourself?" Thank you wherever you are.

Schiff is speaking about the moral and ethical character of the nation. I believe Republicans have underestimated how many Americans still care about it.

Senators should have insisted on a fair trial with documents and witnesses. They chose not to. Some argue, let the election decide — But that argument is unpersuasive when the President is trying to cheat in 2020.

Alice Johnson is one person who won early release because celebrities brought her to Trump's attention. She deserved it. But there are thousands more like her in prison. We need a real pardon process that works fairly. We need real criminal justice reform. Don't be fooled.

Donald Trump just spent millions on a ad bragging about criminal justice reform. Donald Trump chose *the* senator who made criminal justice reform impossible under the Obama administration as his AG. We wont be bamboozled or hoodwinked. We know who he is.

Trump and his enablers are throwing a lavish Super Bowl party at Mar-a-Lago. The estimated cost to taxpayers: $3.4M Once again, they are using public funds to subsidize their own extravagances while cutting public funds for programs that aid the vulnerable. Shame on them.

Uh... the Palestinians just cut all diplomatic ties with the U.S. and Israel. Over Kushner's stupid deal. That Kushner can't compute this should *terrify* all of us who want those working at the top of the government to be smart, competent, innovative thinkers. Kushner's a dud.

"Let the jury consider their verdict," the King said, for about the twentieth time that day. "No, no!" said the Queen. "Sentence first–verdict afterward." "Stuff and nonsense!" said Alice loudly. "The idea of having the sentence first!" And to top that, no witnesses or document.

. just asked a great question: Why call the thing we’ve been watching an impeachment “trial” when it wasn’t a trial at all? A bunch of statements by politicians on one side and conflicted lawyers on the other, with no evidence at all, is a “trial” in name only.

Unfortunately, in Wisconsin, we must also: * demand that officials remove the wireless modems they allowed ES&S to install in ballot scanners * discourage the use of new epollbooks and/or demand paper voter lists as backup * discourage broad use of risky BMDs (esp in Dane Cnty)

A few thoughts about a crucially important but underrated aspect of the Senate impeachment trial as the final votes near: the severe restrictions on press freedoms. Why did Senate leaders go to the trouble of making it so difficult for the press to report on the trial? 1/

I don’t understand the idea that senators don’t have time for witnesses. For heaven’s sake, isn’t that exactly what their time is for? To defend the Constitution?

BREAKING: Chairman Schiff slams Dershowitz hard: “What we have seen over the past few days is a descent into constitutional madness. The only reason you make that argument is because you know your client is guilty and dead to rights. That is an argument made of desperation.”

I never thought that in my lifetime I would witness the government officials responsible for protecting our democracy argue that it's okay to ask a foreign country to help influence an American election. Abhorrent doesn't begin to cover it.

For the first time in my lifetime, and longer, we all need to be terrified of our government. In America. Unbelievable.
