Not meant as an attack, just pointing out a missed opportunity. As an active member of the PHP community, I want to help improve our diversity and reach. Happy to help point you to some women who would be great additions to your lineup

[1] Maybe not meant but looked like. "White males only" and "shame" isn't a language of peace. If you really want to help, spread a proper info _during_ the CfP, not _after_. During the CfP anyone can submit a talk with no matter who exactly is.

Is this the official Twitter account for the conference? Whoever is running it anyways is really combative. Can you not?

D&I is okay as long as it means the equalization of chances. If you place D&I in a stronger position than substantive content of the agenda, you destroy the event. The "prioritize" sounds exactly in that way.

Keep it simple, buddy. Figure out how to get more women and POC on panels and as participants. It’s not hard to show solidarity and effort.

Sorry but completely disagree. The CFP was open and *equal* for everyone, women too. Everyone had same chances.

“Everyone has the same chances” is the exact problem. What are you doing to elevate women and POC? How are you showing your support as an ally and actively encouraging access to these “equal chances”?!

Equal chances mean to not disturb in the natural process. Favoritism one people group against another is acting in compliance with the /divide et empera/ principle. This is the politics and we are very far from entering politics into the event organization.

Luckily there are also plenty of people who do support the people who spoke out, but the personal attacks I'm seeing now are toe cringing and just go to show that the "against" lobby doesn't have a defensible case, so they are resorting to insults instead.

I tried looking for any examples of "trolls" and "personal attacks" and couldn't find any. Only possessed ideologues see disagreement as an attack.

Indeed. The conference got canceled. And for what? Because those obsessed with race amd gender stats didnt get their token speaker. So sad.

As long as there are still people who look at non-white male speakers as "tokens" instead of fellow professionals from whom they could learn something...
