Hey Karl. When I tested HIV+, my Park Avenue doctor told me, “I had a 75% chance of dying.” That’s really how he phrased it. Well, that was on June 23, 1987. I was almost 24. My medical records show, & I firmly believe, that I most likely “converted” in June 1984...
-
...when I got sicker than I had ever been in my life. Whether it’s 1984 or 1987, my point is, it’s now 2018, & I’m still here. I’ve even lived long enough to start having other unrelated medical issues that I thought I’d never be alive to have. So, live long & prosper.

PS: If I were 20 years younger, you’d be in big trouble.

Karl, in '87 my husband was diagnosed HIV+. He suffered many health crises, was active on councils to provide health services for others. He came out to his business partner who immediately severed their partnership. He died in '92. U b u and u fight.

Hallelujah! Come out come out whoever you are! If the world could see everyone who is HIV+, it would change stigma and the epidemic overall. Bravo Karl, we need more people that live in the spotlight to let the world know they have HIV and that they’re doing great!!

Kudos to you on living openly with your HIV status! I was born with it and have always lived openly - it can be hard at times but overall there is less stress letting go of the secret. If you need anything, I'm here for you.

We are a positive family.
Thank you for bravely sharing your truth. Thank you for your courage to show that HIV is normal and not “taboo” and maybe one day my babies won’t have to be scared to share their story. May your days be filled with love, peace and joy.
