Frost Advisory now in effect for portions of the Bay Area and Central Coast. Better mixing overnight led to slightly warmer temperatures. Therefore, ongoing Freeze Warnings were converted to Frost Advisories. #cawx

Hopefully the drought improvement will help our critical agriculture land. And for the Central Coast up to Santa Cruz, it went from a moderate drought to abnormally dry! There's not much rain in the forecast but it will be very cold. Join me for details now on Today in the Bay

Happy Thursday! More improvement in our drought status this morning! The first pic is of the drought two weeks ago. The second one is the update this morning. There is 10% less severe drought in California, mostly in the Central Valley.

5:00am... Wind chills in the Sierra came out swingin' overnight! With the winds, it currently feels like 20 to 38 below zero according to some of the colder peaks. We've also seen a peak wind gust of 162 mph thus far, which occurred just west of the crest. Impressive! #cawx #nvwx

HOT OFF THE PRESSES: Updated total precipitation map for California for a period of 22 days stretching from December 26 to January 17. The AVERAGE over the ENTIRE STATE in that time frame was 11.47 inches, with several locations in central California setting 3-week records.

Finally some relief for California! As #GOESWest monitors the West Coast this morning, its water vapor imagery is showing one of the last major atmospheric river-associated storms in California moving out of the state and into the Four Corners region. #CAwx
Water vapor imagery this morning from GOES West is showing atmospheric river-associated moisture streaming into the Pacific NW and British Columbia as well as into the Southwest, while moisture over California is moving eastward out of the state. Water vapor appears as white and green, while dry air to the south is yellow and orange. State outlines appear as red.
