Oh look, even without Stallman, the FSF has no issue in being a misogynistic hellhole.pic.twitter.com/pi4xY4HdkP

This is a board member of the FSF, and according to members of gnu-private, there are some seriously messed up claims being made there.

It's almost like an organization and a board that had no issue with Stallman's behavior for decades might also be virulent misogynists or have no issue with predatory behavior...

The only logical solution is for the entire board to resign.https://twitter.com/sarahmei/status/1174386393063157763?s=19 …

After the Jacob Applebaum incident in 2016, the board of directors for the Tor project ALL resigned. The structure they'd built & perpetuated was what allowed the problem to happen. Tor would never recover without a fresh start. The @fsf won't either.

Here's @gknauth demanding for proof from @SarahMei (she provided it in-thread) against "slanderous accusations". He also seems to wonder why only 1/10 engineers are women. Maybe defending a widely known predator could help push women out of tech?pic.twitter.com/52cuJ8W93I

I wonder if this systematic imbalance could be demonstrated elsewhere. In 2006, a study found that 1.5% people in free software were women, as opposed to ~28% in proprietary tech professions.https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/6079347/gender-integrated-report-of-findings-flosspols …

In 2013, an open survey found this number closer to ~10%, still way behind commercial software. http://sci-hub.tw/https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-319-39225-7_13 …

It's almost like a toxic culture has persisted for decades and the removal of one toxic man does not eliminate the problem.

Please note that proprietary tech itself is widely acknowledged to have major issues with misogyny, from Google, to Microsoft, to just about everywhere. That free software is historically orders of magnitude worse should set off sirens.

These graphs from the 2006 study are telling. Of free software contributors, only 20% of men have seen discriminatory behavior to women, while 80% of women have. Half of all women contributors to free software have been asked on a date, compared to 10% of men.pic.twitter.com/s7gUjRRZ44
