Flying Elephant, a stage and props builder in Ireland, had 60 jobs cancel within 48 hours in March. It seemed like the end. But instead of giving up, they started building desks for people working from home. They’ve sold more than 2,000 in a month. They saved the company.pic.twitter.com/qY2xxmijjm

Framebridge, a custom framing company, was in the middle of a big retail expansion when shutdowns hit. That went on pause. But it used its acrylic and cutting devices to build face shields (sold at cost) and just got an order for 30,000 from the state of Kentucky.pic.twitter.com/AbSOV62LLx

Zalat Pizza in Texas closed its dining, but started selling toilet paper through Uber Eats (!). The TP comes in via wholesale restaurant supply orders. Since they didn’t need it for dine-in customers, they figured they’d make it available for delivery.pic.twitter.com/GECLPZA23z

La Piccolina Baby Boutique in Lincoln, CA had to close its doors last month. Its owner, Miranda Pinto, had put everything she had into buying it last September. With no in-person retail, she’s built her own HSN on Facebook Live. Tripling daily sales goals and styling alive.pic.twitter.com/VbzYTNUi7e

It's an extremely difficult time to be a small business owner, no doubt. But these companies show that with some grit, creativity, and a willingness to throw out the old playbook, it's possible to make it through.https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/alexkantrowitz/coronavirus-small-businesses-reinventing …

This is a tiny one, but http://drpussums.com  here in Maine normally makes catnip sacks, but like many places they’re making masks now. What’s nice for buyers is they ship really quickly, but it’s also helping them stay in business. (I don’t even own a cat. 😹)
