This is a national disgrace, and one which has a stranglehold on our young people. We were promised that education was the answer; we were told to work hard, and learn. And so we did. Many of us still teenagers—we signed up for incomprehensible debt. MORE THAN A HOUSE. FIX IT

I'm ruined. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm dying this way. There's no house, no retirement. No contribution to my children's education. No anything. I'm no different from any of the others living in poverty; a cycle I was hoping to break with a college degree.

I will be paying my student loans until I die. I've been paying on the loan for 20+ years and have barely made a debt b/c of the interest. The amount of money that could be going into the economy is staggering.

I have 5 children from 8-27 and it's unsustainable. The costs of higher education have skyrocketed & student loan debt is inevitable unless you are in the Top 10% which we definitely are not! How do our children compete without the proper education in the digital age?

My wife was a single mother working full time before I met her. She went to college part time starting in 2006. This Sunday she will walk across the stage graduating with her bachelors degree. Then we figure out how to pay $75,000 in student loans.

Three years ago when I met her it amazed me that she worked full time (for not much money) made sure her son had everything he needed and still focused on her dream of graduating college. So very proud of her! Financial impact of it is a stark reality though.

I can't get married because of my student loan debt. I live in San Diego. I'm an adjunct professor. I voted for

I live in San Diego as well- it is already unaffordable to live here. The student loan payment makes it even worse. Income-based is a joke! There is no affordable way to pay back these loans!
