Congrats to Tammy. But Kams, what was the barrier keeping any woman in Congress from having a child? Just because she's the first to do it doesn't mean there was a barrier there preventing others from doing it. FFS can you be normal for like, just one tweet?

I think maybe she was referring to the fact that pregnancy and the time it takes away is a reason why women were rumored to be held back and discriminated against in the workplace. And since she’s technically the first, it proves that a woman’s motherhood doesn’t affect her job

The sad thing is you’d probably be congratulating her if she were the first Senator to have aborted her baby as well.

Another barrier broken? How long do you think she'll stay in office, with a child to take care of?

Would you ask that of a man?

She'll still get more done than many of her male colleagues. Go Sen Duckworth!

That's awesome! I wish women could just be allowed, supported and enabled to finish college during the pregnancy, birth, and infancy of their children. But if Congress can lead the way, maybe we'll get there!!! I want motherhood and a livelihood!
