Also, older people in nursing homes have to use Medicaid instead of Medicare - have no idea why. Didn’t know it until my father went into a nursing home.
Medicaid does more than help low-income Americans afford health care, it also pays for everything from treatment for substance abuse to support for children with special needs. We must protect it.

Medicare pays for very limited skilled nursing care- Medicaid pays for long term institutional - custodial care- like feeding, bathing, the responsiblity is then placed on the states to cover this or private pay

From my point of view, the main thing is it pays for my mother in her nursing home. She seriously would have NO place to go if not for Medicaid. Her children are all 60+.

My father too before he passed - he and my mother worked very hard all their lives and paid taxes, SS, Medicare etc...and luckily there was Medicaid to pay for skilled care

I wish people understood that the cost of NOT providing healthcare is way higher than the cost to provide it. Medicaid is a bargain, compared to emergency room costs when people get very, very sick.

It should be illegal to remove an existing health care program only to deny and harm the disadvantaged in order to give tax breaks to both the very rich as well as their businesses.

I have 4 adoptive children. Medicaid as a secondary means their needs are met without the extra financial burden on our family (1/2)
