As a person who was humiliated on a daily basis as a kid because I received "free lunch", this is heartwarming.

Lunch debt? What kind of obscenity is this? In the richest nation on Earth?
-
My daughter had free lunches last year (and all her school life), but this year, we made less than $50 over the max income, and were denied help. Now we are in debt to the school and there's no way we can ever pay it.

When we start looking at saving money in the budget, let’s not make those savings on the backs of the poor and working class. Amazon doesn’t pay any taxes and we got schools harsssing kids about $2 lunch.

Yes. Why isn't simple like lunch is provided for all school children? It fosters equality and at the same time makes sure no child is hungry in a country that can make it happen.

In my state (I'm not sure if true of all), only elementary kids are given lunch no matter what. Once they get to middle school, apparently kids don't have to eat anymore...

We are supposedly the most advanced nation on Earth. No child should ever be hungry or food insecure. Ever.
-
Agreed. It’s shameful that this is America and we have starving students. Breaks my heart.
