I know a man who posted ex-girlfriends' photos to adult "dating" sites & emailed them to strangers - not for revenge but to boast & impress. I had to explain to him like I would a child why this was so wrong. He was almost 50. I made him let me take them down.

Revenge has never required a legitimate reason. All too often the reason for revenge is nothing more that a falsely perceived slight. Requiring a 'legitimate' reason (decided by whom? on what guidelines?) is about your definition.

No, it does not imply the victim agreed to distribution. Sometimes, earlier, the victim may have consented to be photographed or even taken the pix herself/himself when the victim was still in a relationship with the person who took or was given the photos. See Tweet #2.

Tweet #2. Then, if the victim breaks off the relationship, the other person (dumpee?) becomes enraged and goes criminal. The criminal has NO permission to distribute the pix -- at school or on the Internet. The "revenge" is for being dumped. (go to #3)
