Let me guess. The GOP will push tax cuts for the rich on the theory that this will somehow trickle down and help everyone else.

God help me, I agree with Lamar Alexander. From the article: Alexander said that paid sick leave is a “good idea.” But if lawmakers want to require employers to provide it, then the federal government should have to foot the bill, he argued.

There should be a means test. The government should provide funding based on company size (employee and revenue). As an example, the government should not pay for it on behalf of Amazon. A small family business? Yes, they should.
