The day my mother told us she had colon cancer was one of the worst days of my life. She was my inspiration and dedicated her life to finding a cure for breast cancer. I will always fight for public funding for cancer research—too many lives have been cut short. #WorldCancerDay

My mother passed away five years ago after a 3 year battle with colon cancer. I wouldn’t wish what she and our family went through on anyone. We need to find a cure. Period.

I have fought cancer twice in my life. Once at the age of 17 and again when I was 38. It is a horrible disease that destroys families. It effects everyone, not just the patient. We all need to do all we can to help fund even more research.

My mother had AML leukemia, & survived thanks to the publicly funded City of Hope cancer research hospital. I’m forever grateful to them, her oncologists, and you, as our California Senator fighting for cancer patients and our families. -
May your mother continue her successful battle with her illness and may you both find comfort in knowing that there are still treatment options available for AML patients.
