My generation and generations before me, never grew up this being their reality. We are raising kids to think that this is "normal." Enough already. We need better gun safety laws RIGHT NOW.

Guns haven’t changed. We have stricter laws. Maybe it’s the generation and not the tool.

How about funding mental health..? Maybe this kid has serious issues. Take away guns and kids will be bringing other weapons to school. Then what? FUND MENTAL HEALTH! Give easier access to medication, doctors, etc etc.

We need to do it all mental illness, robust social services, prevention, and national gun regulation. Thanks to the GOP and GOP voters NOTHING gets done. They don’t give a damn about human life.

A dozen laws were already broken by this 16 year old possessing and firing a gun and killing fellow students. I am 100% for any sort of actually effective new policy. Please explain how you'd prevent this from happening in the state with some of the strictest gun laws already.

While no legislation can solve the problem, we can definitely make it much harder to buy/ sell/ access guns. Thankfully CA does indeed have some of the strictest gun laws. I shudder to think of how much more tragic this could have been with an AR type gun.
