Exactly. I live in a relatively middle-class enclave in CA, and we've ALWAYS had after-school programs that have given the kids sports & coaching, science labs, music, art, and academic assistance. It's GREAT for the kids & the parents.

While in theory I agree with you please take a second to think about a working parent whose child gets out of school at 2 and she works till 6, maybe an hours drive away. This is a very real challenge for many.
