OK, we almost all use oil and its byproducts in some way. There is a need for pipelines. There is also a need for those that run pipelines to respect the land that they run through. Why can we not find some sort of compromise where...

If there is a pipeline spill, then maybe the pipeline needs to be shut down until some sort of committee of local representatives determine that their habitat has been restored to the point before the spill...this seems like a reasonable way to hold the pipelines...
