Jails are now the mental health default option, leaving the vulnerable mentally ill in the same position as other “criminals” in terms of access to housing, etc. The result is they end up surviving on the street and sleeping in missions with little hope of adequate treatment.

My brother was victimised by the Virginia Department of Corrections for three years!! Three yearsof inadequate healthcare and absolutely no mental healthcare. The system is broken. What will do do to fix this? I want to know.
