Fannie Lou Hamer was born on this day in 1917. She fought for our civil rights but, also, for our humanity. Ms. Hamer knew it was necessary to fight for what was right, even if she had to so alone. We must continue her tireless and courageous fight each and every day.

My 8th graders did their New York history day project on Fannie Lou Hamer. 1 group did a documentary, the other did a solo performance which garnered best performance in NYC. My shero forever.
