I am not sure. San Francisco has become a city of disfunctional people. Weed-addicts, crazies, druggies , beggars, and homeless are all inter-connected and are not just public nuisance but also public health and public security hazards.

I'm not sure I understand how decriminalization is an automatic pass for something you did when it was illegal. It was still a crime, it was still breaking the law, it still led to more crime, can you please explain that to me?

It depends on whether you see prison time as an opportunity for rehabilitation from harmful acts or simply punitive. If prison is meant to rehabilitate, & then we decide the thing the person needs to stop doing isn't actually a problem, they probably shouldn't be kept in prison.
