Today I introduced a comprehensive marijuana reform bill that is the first step towards legalization. My bill will:
Decriminalize marijuana at the federal level
Expunge prior marijuana convictions
Use tax revenue from marijuana sales to help those w/ prior convictions

Yes please. What is wrong with people? Alcohol, which is legal, is far worse for people's health as well as society in general. Alcohol brings out people's more violent side. Marijuana makes people more mellow and less violent. It's crazy people are in jail for marijuana.

So true. I have seen hundreds of people die related to health effects of alcohol abuse in my career but not one due to marijuana. I wish I were exaggerating, the youngest I remember was 21.

Do you remember laughing at the idea of legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana? Do you remember all the people you took part in locking up due to non-violent drug offences? I like that you are changing but I feel like it’s only a political calculation on your part.

Wow such genius, lets use millions of tax payer money in a 3 year long battle to legalize something that is already being done at state level with much less trouble.

Federal law supersedes state law. If it chose to, the federal government could start prosecuting in “legal” states if it so chose.
