Take that money you are trying to use for Free healthcare for illegals, free college tuition, and pay teachers 20k more. Also, fire the ones who are not performing to standard to make room for good teachers.

And what about school support staff, like paraprofessionals and teacher’s aides? They work hard too and are severely underpaid, and I never see them represented in the salary debate.

And their pensions r their salaries, plus some worked during summers and qualified 4 S/S. Until education gets revamped a & a paradigm shift occurs, no raises. 2 many deadwood educators standing around that can't b fired. System stinks.

No school district can afford that. Where is that money going to come from? Higher real estate taxes? They are already too high!

This is a truth that we have to face. A 1 mil raise in property taxes could be devastating to our seniors. Also this can't be sweeping because in many areas teachers make more than the average salary in their district.

Populism works. A few years ago I wanted to be President of Azerbaijan, my plan was to offer a $500 raise to government workers, pizza discount coupons to retirees, and free opera tickets to voters between 18 and 35.
